Alternative dispute resolution that supports people, not agendas
Independent mediation and conciliation services for individuals and organisations.
Human-first alternative dispute resolution services to sort out workplace conflict
I get it. You’re stressed, exhausted, and probably wondering if anyone at work actually sees what you’re going through.
You’ve had it with the run-around and unresponsive leaders. You’re tired of fearing what happens if you speak up — or if you don’t. And if you’re a woman in heavy industry, the pressure is ten times worse.
I know because I’ve been there too.
Unions have their agenda. HR, ER/IR and HSE are, in most cases, only concerned about the company or their KPIs. Me? I’m here for you, full stop.
Because you deserve better. You deserve to be seen as a human, not a problem or a case number. To speak freely and be genuinely heard. And to have a chance to right what’s wrong so you can restore your sense of safety, respect, and control.
That’s exactly why I’m here — to provide that space.
I help you resolve workplace disputes without the stress, time, and expense of litigation. Through workplace mediation and conciliation, we’ll create a space for brave conversations that lead to resolutions you can actually work with.

Choose from two alternative dispute resolution services
Workplace mediation
Helping you find your own solutionMediation is an exploratory practice between parties — a brave, guided conversation about what’s happened and what you each need to get past it.
I don’t take sides, provide suggestions, or make decisions for you. I facilitate the conversation to help you both find common ground and reach an agreement you can work with.
Best for you if:
You want to repair trust or communication.
You want to work through the emotional layers of the issue.
Both parties are willing to have a brave conversation.
You want guidance from someone who understands high-pressure, male-dominated workplaces.
Conciliation in the workplace
When you need practical solutions, fastWorkplace conciliation follows a similar process to mediation, but with one key difference: I can offer advice, suggestions, and solutions to help you reach an outcome.
If mediation is about exploring every option together, conciliation is about getting to a practical resolution more directly, with my input and guidance along the way.
Best for you if:
You know what outcome you want and need help getting there.
You need someone with expertise in workplaces where power imbalances are common and, unfortunately, deemed acceptable.
You just want an end to it.
Is alternative dispute resolution right for you?
ADR works best when:
You have a clear issue you want resolved.
The other party is willing to have a conversation.
You want to avoid the time and cost of legal proceedings.
You want some control over the outcome.
ADR might not be right if:
The matter has already progressed to formal legal proceedings.
There are safety concerns that need immediate attention.
The other party refuses to engage.
Not sure?Reach out today, and we’ll talk through your situation confidentially. I’ll give you honest advice about whether workplace mediation or conciliation is right for you.
Confidentiality
Everything discussed in mediation and conciliation is confidential. Nothing leaves the room without your agreement.
Impartiality
I don’t take sides. My role is to create a safe space for brave conversation and help you reach a fair outcome.
Closure
By the end of the process, you’ll have a clear agreement that will help diffuse tension, clear the air, and restore respect.
Your path to peace of mind
Not familiar with alternative dispute resolution? Here’s my process.
-
We meet (in person or online via Teams) for up to 60 minutes. You tell me what’s happened, what outcome you’re looking for, and where things are at. I’ll let you know whether mediation or conciliation is the right fit for your situation.
-
If alternative dispute resolution is right for you, I’ll help you invite the other party to participate. I then have a second intake session with them to hear their side, remaining impartial throughout.
-
We meet for a structured session (typically a full day). You’ll each have a chance to speak openly. We’ll explore options together, and I’ll guide you towards an outcome you can both agree on.
-
Once you’ve reached an agreement, I capture it in writing. You can take it to your lawyers to formalise, or I can draft it in plain language for you.
I’m Sarah Hamilton,
your AMDRAS-accredited ADR facilitator
I know what it’s like to feel dismissed, intimidated, and gaslit in a system that doesn’t have your best interests at heart. I myself have walked away from toxic situations that others told me to just accept.
So I know what you’re going through. But you don’t have to stand alone. I’m an alternative to unions that usually have their own agendas, internal HR/ER/IR that carry bias, and employers who want to quietly shut things down.
I’m an impartial voice for workers who need someone in their corner — particularly those in industries where power imbalances are common. I provide guidance grounded in real experience, including supporting women navigating male-dominated industries.
I’m the advocate who will put you first, not the system. The culture of the industry will not change unless we begin responding differently to conflict.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Alternative dispute resolution (ADR) involves an independent mediator or conciliator working with the parties to resolve the issue at hand. It gives you a structured, confidential alternative to legal action.
Instead of lawyers, tribunals, and months (or years) of back-and-forth, you work with an impartial third party — someone who understands power plays, people, and the human cost of unresolved conflict (trust me, I’ve been there).
As your facilitator, I can see the situation clearly, understand what’s at stake, and provide practical support that’s grounded in real experience. Because I’ve been there too.
-
Mediation and conciliation typically take a full day and include individual sessions with each party, as well as a joint session in the same room to hash things out together.
-
Alternative dispute resolution is faster and less stressful than legal action — and it gives you control over the outcome, rather than leaving it in the hands of a judge or tribunal.
You still have an impartial, independent facilitator — someone without bias or conflict of interest — guiding the process. But you’re part of the solution, and you have a say in how things are resolved.
For organisations, calling in an independent ADR facilitator isn’t just about avoiding Fair Work or Work, Health and Safety claims.
It allows your leadership and HR teams to focus on day-to-day operations, knowing they can hand over sensitive matters to a conflict specialist who will work towards outcomes that will ultimately improve communication, build trust, and restore respect in the workplace.
-
Alternative dispute resolution is important because it gives you a chance to be heard. Properly. No agenda. No attempts to shove the matter under the rug. No casual dismissal because ‘it’s just a part of the culture’.
It allows you to have brave conversations in safe spaces, get to the heart of the matter, and work with the other party to reach a resolution that clears the air and restores respect.
Organisations need to show that they take psychological safety and Respect@Work compliance seriously. But more than that, ADR provides the opportunity to create a high-trust work environment that puts humans first and to build a reputation as a company that cares.
-
Whereas in mediation I can only facilitate the conversation, in conciliation I can offer advice, recommendations, and solutions.
In both cases, I facilitate an open conversation between you and the other party. But with conciliation, I can suggest options, reality-test ideas, and guide you towards a practical, workable outcome.
-
Absolutely. I have more than two decades of HR, ER and IR experience in high-pressure workplaces in Australia, including construction, mining, and other heavy industries.
As an alternative dispute resolution facilitator in construction, I’m intimately familiar with the industry's culture and challenges.
I’ve been where you work, alongside the people you work with. I’ve worn the hard hat and the high-vis vest, mediated conflicts in crib sheds and among cranes.
So I understand the workplace realities of construction, the regulatory environment, and what it actually takes to navigate these situations — particularly if you’re a woman dealing with a workplace challenge, including at camp.

I was based in Western Australia for the past 4 years but recently relocated back to the Coffs Coast in NSW. I can work with organisations and individuals across Australia, in person or online via Teams. I have travelled previously to North West WA, Pilbara, South West WA, NSW and QLD. I can travel interstate where required.
