I’m Sarah Hamilton, your trusted specialist
For more than two decades, I’ve been in the trenches, working in HR, ER and IR across some of Australia’s toughest essential industries: mining, construction and heavy industry. Male-dominated, unionised and high-pressure.
Throughout my career, I’ve worn the high-vis PPE and the hard hat, and I’ve lived it all: the good, the challenging and the distressingly harmful.
For 23 years, I gave everything to this industry. I became an expert in navigating conflict, power imbalances, and toxic dynamics. I built a reputation as someone who genuinely cared — the HR/ER/IR person people could actually trust.
That success eventually upset some people whose organisational or union agendas didn’t match my commitment to fairness. Union relationships were prioritised over my psychological safety as a female leader.
And navigating that experience alone changed everything.
I became a dispute resolution specialist to give people the support I wish I’d had.
Most people don’t end up in conflict because they want to fight. They end up there because something hasn’t been heard, named, or understood.
I know that better than most.
I know what it feels like to be a woman in a male-dominated workplace. To raise concerns, yet remain unheard. To face intimidation and harassment and feel unsafe. To crack the glass ceiling only to be pushed off the glass cliff, then told ‘it’s just part of the culture’.
And I’m here to tell you it doesn’t have to be that way. ‘The culture’ must change.
I know what happens when a workplace fails to meet its positive duty obligations. I’ve lived with the consequences of it. But good came from speaking up about it, and I didn’t allow the trauma to define me.
My case escalated to Fair Work and WorkCover. But it didn’t have to. And while I had lawyers, I didn’t have the support I truly needed and deserved. But you will.
I’m here to make the brave conversations possible. As a conflict resolution specialist, I help people clear the air, rebuild trust, and find resolutions everyone can work with.

Standing with women in heavy industries
For more than two decades, I’ve worked in industries where women are a fraction of the workforce and have had to deal with the added pressures of unsafe dynamics, harassment, isolation or being sidelined.
Up to 75% of Australian women in construction experience gender-based adversity in their careers, and at least 88% report experiencing microaggressions in the workplace.
I know how serious breaches of psychological safety can be — I’ve lived through it myself. That’s why I remain fiercely committed to supporting women in male-dominated industries, creating the conditions for them to also find the courage I found, speak up safely, and advocate for their safety, respect and equal opportunity.

Values I stand by
The power of caringWorkplace disputes aren’t just paperwork — there’s always a human at the heart of it. As a dispute resolution practitioner, I show up for people. I listen. I sit with them for as long as they need to be heard. Compassion isn’t optional here. It’s how resolution happens.
Power-aware and equity-focusedWorkplace conflicts often stem from power imbalances. Bosses and staff. Men and women. Stakeholders and management. Seasoned employees and industry entrants. I make sure everyone has a voice and a fair go, no matter their position or preferred freedom of association.
Courage to challenge what’s not rightReal change doesn’t come from staying quiet. I’ve dared to walk away from toxicity, and I bring that same strength to advocate for others, too. I ask the hard questions and call out what isn’t working. And I don’t settle for surface-level fixes that leave real problems untouched.
Find the opportunities in conflictConflict is more than a headache. It’s a psychological safety risk and a signal that something needs fixing. Hard experiences don’t have to hold us back; they can become the catalyst for deeper understanding, stronger communication, improved trust, and meaningful change.
